Church vacancy – update

Letter-to-Congregation

13th December 2020

As Covid-19 prevented us holding our Annual Stated Meeting at the end of March, the Virtual General Assembly of the Church of Scotland agreed an alternative process which we are now about to start.

We need to send out 2 mailings to our “worshipping congregation” to advise:

1.    We are being given the right to call a Minister for a 5-year reviewable term

2.    Subject to our engaging in discussion with the Presbytery Task Group on the long-term ministry needs of the Presbytery in the city,

both of which have already been agreed by your Kirk Session.

Enclosed with this is the first letter from Presbytery which is accompanied by a “Frequently Asked Questions” Form. If you have any other questions, please contact me in writing as follows by Wednesday 6 January 2021:

Ms Fiona Bruce

Session Clerk

St. Matthew’s Church

Tay Street

Perth. PH1 5LQ.

If you have no questions you need do nothing.

The second letter (sent out in early January 2021) will answer any questions which have been asked and will contain a voting slip which you should return.

Hopefully we will then be able to move forward to the next step of the process!

We are also taking this opportunity to enclose a Membership Update Form as we discovered during lockdown that our records were not up-to-date. Please return this Form to us either by post or e-mail and particularly with contact details and if you have an e-mail address.

Thank you

Fiona Bruce
